Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist?

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are food and nutrition experts who have met predetermined criteria to earn their RDN credential, as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. For more information about the credentialing process, please visit the Academy’s website at www.eatright.org

I have access to free nutrition information and diet plans online. Why should I hire a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist to help me?

Registered Dietitian/Nutritionists have the skills, knowledge, tools, and resources to tailor evidenced-based nutrition practices  that will best fit your individual needs. Many online plans only offer a one-size-fits-all plan, which realistically, will not be helpful to most people in the long-term.

Being a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist provides me with the advantage over other unregulated “nutritionists” because I have the tools, skills, and resources to provide evidenced-based medical nutrition therapy and counseling.
